Ben, a fellow moody Alumni and fellow K9er (Culby 9, my college dorm floor’s nickname) was kind enough to have me come down to his hometown of Kankakee to shoot him and his high school sweet heart/fiancee! We went for a walk around some park I wouldn’t even be able to tell you the name… but it was good times.
But I do know a river ran through it… since I couldn’t figure out what river it was, I shall dub it Kankakee river.
Then we drove to the place where they first etched their love on a tree in Chabanse… is that even legal? What would the Forrest rangers say? :)
on the drive out there, a farm storage thingy center caught me eye and we decided to shoot away in this rusty paradise.
haha, I love Ben’s superman pose in this shot… hahaha – so much epicness.
I actually met Monica back in High School in France! That’s right, so crazy! We probably hadn’t seen each other in about 8 years – :) but we reconnected via facebook and she was engaged to Lance and also rocking the mid-west… so one thing lead to another and bada-bing, bada-boom – I’ll be shooting her wedding in Grand Rapids this summer! Super psyched, should be a blast and a half!
We met up near the water tower place and went for a walk around the area… always good times in River North!
Monica wanted the distant navy pier included somehow, and this was my favorite attempt… haha… I think its edgy, hate if you want to :)
and I once again had fun capturing unknowing chicago pedestrians doing their thing!
Laura, Mark and I went downtown a few days before their wedding earlier this month to take their formal pictures. We first met up at the Chicago cultural center and then went for a walk around the city.
I gotta say this following shot shares my FAVE OF THE DAY vote along with the last shot of this post!
oh my Lanta!!!! Laura, one of the best jowling shots I have ever seen! :D
then we took a quick little break and they changed into more casual outfits before resuming our walkabout…
haha, I think I have a newfound love for shooting through pedestrians…
A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting Josh & Shelley’s wedding up in Lakeville Minnesota! (you read that right, a couple weeks!! I am beasting this blog thing) It was an epic blast and a half! It was hard choosing which shots I wanted to blog… so much goodness.
I believe they made all their own bouquets & Boutonnieres… and they were pretty swank sauce!
Josh’s little bro was all about the pose… a real hip kid!
when Josh threw this face my way … I knew Shelley was going to have to one up him for the next shot! :D bliss.
and the church just happened to be a stone throw away from a school bus parking lot! Ha! loved it!
FAVE OF THE DAY…. (I think)
haha, this one is also pimpin’
and I liked this one so much you may remember it from just a few posts back! I love the wedding dress and rain boot combo… that’s what I call edgy :)
and this is how cold it really was… hahaha, props to the girls for posing coatless!
I always love me a good vintage winnebago in a wedding shot! edgy…
find the winnebago…
My awesome friend Tom back from the moody days was kind enough to come along and second shoot this party!
We went all out at the reception with some quality jowling shots… we were sure not to miss any of the bridal party! And who ever said girls don’t jowl???

this past christmas break, while in France, my good friends over at eiko studio asked me to shoot a bit of video for them. Video hasn’t been my main thing lately, but I did go to school for it and my 5d cameras shoot gorgeous HD video, so I was glad to get my old final cut rolling again. On top of it all, the subject couldn’t have been any cooler. They wanted some footage of a friend of ours Tim, who is a fantastic break dancer. He and his group have won many european trophies and battles (breakdance battles mind you).
But first, a few stills I got after his spins
The fine peeps over at Eiko aren’t sure how they are going to use it yet, so here is the rough cut – but I figured I blog about it before I forgot about it! Watch it on vimeo for full 720HD
The music is Lenny Kravitz – I forget which track :)
Matt & Rebbecca got married last month (I know last month, I’m finally on top of this blogging thing – sorta) at the Wheaton Bible Church in West Chicago. Probably one of the coldest weddings I’ve shot in a while… but where sunshine lacked, the warmth of love and good times made for a dine substitute. <— wow, did I really just write that? Can photographers get Pulitzers for fine blogging? snapsies!
Haha, but in all seriousness, it was awesome! Check out these pics and let me know if you like!
Definitely one of my FAVES OF THE DAY!
and then we stepped outside for a few natural light shots – what thinketh ye?
and here is my other fave of the day!
with a faded B&W option, just cuz I like it so much…
